Job summary

CDM Smith is seeking an Automation (Instrumentation & Controls) Engineering intern to join our Phoenix office in 2027. You will collaborate with a team of engineers on public, federal, and industrial projects, focusing on SCADA, instrumentation, and control system design.

The role involves creating basic instrumentation and controls designs using 3D/4D drafting, reviewing shop drawings, and assisting with testing and startup.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled and taking courses toward a Bachelors or Masters in Chemical, Electrical, Computer Engineering or a related engineering field is required.

Responsibilities

• Under direct supervision, creates basic instrumentation, controls and related systems designs using 3D and 4D drafting programs.
• Reviews simple component level shop drawings.
• Creates basic human-machine interface (HMI) designs and PLC programs.
• Assists with testing and startup of instrumentation, controls and related systems.
• Performs other duties as required.
