Job summary

CDM Smith is seeking an Automation (Instrumentation & Controls) Engineering intern to join our Dallas office in Summer 2027. You will work with a dynamic team on a diverse portfolio of public, federal, and industrial projects.

Our division includes process, chemical, and electrical engineering, enabling a broad range of knowledge on each project. Travel is minimal, and you will gain hands-on experience with SCADA, design, and commissioning activities.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled and taking courses toward a Bachelor's or Master's in Chemical, Electrical, Computer Engineering or a related engineering field is required.

Responsibilities

• Under direct supervision, creates basic instrumentation, controls and related systems designs using 3D and 4D drafting programs.
• Reviews simple component level shop drawings.
• Creates basic human-machine interface (HMI) designs, programmable logic controllers (PLC), reports, etc.
• Performs other duties as required.
• Assists with testing and startup of instrumentation, controls and related systems.
