Job summary

The Home Depot seeks a skilled Automation Engineer to support Goods-to-Person (GTP) solutions across its supply chain. You will work with robotic systems, AS/RS, conveyors, and warehouse software to maximize throughput and reliability, collaborating with operations, maintenance, and vendors to deploy and operate GTP solutions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Industrial Engineering, Robotics, or related field.
• At least 3 years of automation engineering experience in distribution/warehousing environment.
• Knowledge of robotic systems, material handling equipment, and automation technologies (robotic arms, vision, lidar, AMR, AGV, sensors, cameras).
• Proficient with CAD for 3D drawings; experience integrating sensors, actuators, motors, and gear systems.
• Proficient in PLC/SCADA/HMI programming and debugging; familiarity with WMS/WCS/WES.

Responsibilities

• 70% Design and Implementation of automation solutions: robotics, conveyors, AS/RS; lead or assist projects within time and budget.
• Data analysis of performance data to optimize system performance and reliability.
• Collaborate with operations, maintenance, software engineers, and vendors to drive improvements.
• Develop training materials, playbooks, and best practices for GTP operations.
• Monitor health/performance of robotic systems and software applications; troubleshoot and resolve issues.
• Ensure safety, compliance, and alignment with business requirements.
• Support site deployments, testing, and rollouts; drive continuous improvement.
