Job summary

Mergon Group in Anderson, SC is seeking a hands-on Automation Engineer to support and optimize automated manufacturing systems. You will program, troubleshoot, and improve robotics, PLCs, HMIs, vision systems, and controls to boost safety, quality, productivity, and equipment reliability.

The ideal candidate enjoys solving complex technical problems, collaborating with production teams, and driving continuous improvement initiatives.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in a technical field required.
5+ years in industrial automation in manufacturing.
Experience programming and troubleshooting PLCs, HMIs, and robotics.
Strong knowledge of controls, electrical systems, and automation tech.
Ability to read electrical schematics and technical docs.

Responsibilities

Program, troubleshoot, and maintain PLC, HMI, and robotic automation systems.
Support automated production equipment to maximize uptime and efficiency.
Diagnose and resolve controls, electrical, and automation issues.
Lead root cause analysis and implement corrective actions.
Support new equipment installations, commissioning, and production launches.
Develop and maintain automation documentation, schematics, and standards.
Collaborate with Production, Maintenance, Quality, and Engineering to improve plant performance.
Identify opportunities to improve productivity, quality, and operational efficiency.
Ensure compliance with safety and regulatory requirements.
