Job summary

Amazon in Austin, TX seeks an Automation Engineer to maximize equipment reliability and operational performance in fulfillment centers. You will troubleshoot complex control systems, analyze performance metrics, and drive continuous improvements across material handling systems including conveyors and sortation.

You will work with state-of-the-art technology, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and contribute to providing fast, accurate order fulfillment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, electrical engineering, automation engineering, or equivalent, or 2+ years of PLC programming or automation engineering experience.
• Work a flexible schedule/shift/work area, including weekends, nights, and/or holidays.
• 2+ years of process or production environment related PLC-controlled automation and issue diagnosis experience.
• 2+ years of robotics work cells and control systems experience.
• 2+ years of electrical theory, robotics, controls components, and automated equipment experience.
• 2+ years of Ladder Logic and structured programming from Siemens, Allen-Bradley, or Codesys PLCs experience.

Responsibilities

• Maintain automation systems critical for operations as site expert.
• Understand, maintain and troubleshoot material handling control systems and industrial networks (Ethernet, ControlNet, DeviceNet, Profibus).
• Monitor MHE metrics and partner with maintenance/operations to address performance issues.
• Provide first-level escalation support for site technicians, both locally and remotely.
• Perform and analyze building System Assessments to enhance material handling system performance.
