Job summary

JLL in New Orleans, LA seeks an experienced Automation Engineer to design, develop, and implement automation control systems for industrial processes and warehouse equipment. You will optimize PLC/PC controllers, SCADA devices, and MHE performance while mentoring apprentices and partnering with cross-functional teams.

The role emphasizes documentation, change management, and continuous improvement, with a focus on safety and reliability across conveyors, sortation, scanners, and printing systems.

Qualifications

• 4-year degree or knowledge equivalent to a 4-year degree.
• Proven ability to lead, train, and mentor automation engineers.
• Proficiency with CMMS, troubleshooting, and coordinating maintenance activities with multiple stakeholders.
• Advanced English communication, both verbal and written.
• Strong problem-solving mindset and commitment to continuous improvement.
• Flexibility to work varied shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Serve as site technical expert in automation control systems and mentor Apprentices.
• Design, develop, implement, and optimize control systems and software; troubleshoot PLC/PC controllers and networks.
• Adhere to Automation Change Management and documentation procedures.
• Collaborate with operations, engineering, and support teams to optimize MHE systems and deliver projects.
• Monitor MHE metrics, analyze performance issues, and lead troubleshooting remotely.
• Conduct root cause analysis and drive continuous improvement for cost savings.
