Job summary

Amazon Operations in Daytona Beach is seeking an Automation Engineer to maintain and optimize material handling systems across the site. You will work with PLC/PC controllers, SCADA, and industrial networks to ensure reliable operation of conveyors, sortation, scanners, cameras and related equipment.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or 2+ years in PLC programming or automation engineering.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including shifts, weekends, nights, and holidays.
  • Experience designing, developing, implementing, and supporting PLC-based control systems.
  • Prefer material handling, flow, and capacity management experience.
  • Prefer industrial control systems experience (hardware & software).

Responsibilities

  • Site specialist for maintaining automation systems essential to operations.
  • Partner with building ops, operations engineering, FC start-up, AFT software, ACES, and safety teams for MHE optimization and project delivery.
  • Maintain, troubleshoot, and improve material handling control systems (PLC/PC controllers, industrial networks, motor control, servo drives, frequency drives, electrical distribution).
  • Monitor MHE performance metrics and work with maintenance/ops teams to resolve issues and analyze results site-wide.
  • Provide first-line escalation support to site technicians on-site and remotely.
  • Lead failure analysis and incident reviews to support continuous improvement.
  • Conduct/building system assessments to strengthen material handling system performance.
  • Communicate technical concerns and project schedules to leaders, ops teams, and maintenance staff.
