Job summary

Garmin Ltd. seeks a full-time Automation Engineer Intern at its U.S. headquarters in the Greater Kansas City area.

You will design and implement scalable automated solutions to support manufacturing and distribution, covering mechanical, electrical, safety, PLC/HMI/robotic programming. Qualifications include pursuing an engineering/CS degree with hands-on automation experience, CAD proficiency (AutoCAD/SOLIDWORKS), and strong problem-solving and communication skills.

Qualifications

Pursuing a degree in Electrical, Industrial, Manufacturing Engineering, MIS, or CS.
GPA 3.0 or higher is typical for consideration.
Hands-on automation experience involving robotics and controls.
Experience with 2D/3D CAD software (AutoCAD, SOLIDWORKS).
Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
Team-oriented with a collaborative mindset.

Responsibilities

Design and implement automated solutions to support manufacturing and distribution.
Develop mechanical, electrical, safety, PLC/HMI/robotic programming aspects.
Ensure solutions comply with design specifications and generate revision-controlled documentation.
Participate in design reviews and present solutions to the team and management.
Troubleshoot and continuously improve existing automation systems.
Collaborate with Garmin project teams in Olathe and Taiwan.
