Job summary

Cambro Manufacturing seeks an Automation Engineer II to design, develop, and implement automated manufacturing equipment and control systems. You will troubleshoot issues, lead validation efforts, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate new technologies while driving continuous improvement and safety.

The role requires experience in automation, robotics, PLC/HMI programming, and electrical design, with duties spanning project management, documentation, and vendor coordination.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Automation, or Industrial Engineering or equivalent experience
  • Minimum 5 years manufacturing engineering experience, preferably in an injection molding environment
  • Ability to analyze data and apply advanced math and statistics
  • 2D/3D drawing capability for automated equipment design in AutoCAD or SolidWorks
  • Knowledge of GD&T (ANSI Y14.5 -2018)
  • Knowledge of industrial codes (ADA, OSHA, NEC, NFPA, IBC, ISO)
  • PLC and HMI programming/troubleshooting
  • Star Automation and/or Yushin robot programming/troubleshooting
  • 6 axis robot setup and troubleshooting
  • Electrical schematics, panel design/wiring
  • Servo/stepper motor systems implementation
  • MS Word/Excel/Project/PowerPoint proficiency
  • Documentation skills (reports, SOPs)
  • Pneumatic control circuits and electro-pneumatic troubleshooting
  • Travel to multiple facilities/suppliers in USA and possibly internationally
  • Strong multitasking and problem-solving abilities
  • Adaptable, detail-oriented, and solution-focused

Responsibilities

  • Develops, codes, and commissions automated systems including PLC programming, robotics and motion control
  • Troubleshoots complex issues to minimize downtime
  • Manages automation projects from design to deployment with timelines
  • Validates protocols ensuring safety and quality standards
  • Analyzes production data to optimize performance and reduce costs
  • Creates technical reports and electrical documentation; provides leadership and training
  • Coordinates with vendors for new equipment design, procurement, installation
  • Maintains attendance and reliability to meet departmental needs
  • Adheres to safety procedures and PPE requirements
  • Collaborates effectively in a team and communicates project status

  • Travel to multiple facilities and suppliers as needed
  • Other duties as required
