Job summary

Jones Lang LaSalle Incorporated (JLL) invites applicants for an Automation Engineering Apprentice (AEA) to learn and grow in automated systems within a distribution center. You will train through classroom instruction, hands-on labs, and on-the-job learning with mentors across facilities.

The program includes 12 weeks of technical instruction and 3,500 hours of on-the-job learning, focusing on PLCs, VFDs, sensors, and robotics.

Qualifications

• Must be 18+ with HS diploma or GED.
• Interest in automation, controls, or mechatronics.
• Basic computer literacy (email, spreadsheets).
• Willingness to travel for required training sessions.
• Ability to read basic electrical or mechanical drawings.
• Commitment to learning, teamwork, and safe work practices.

Responsibilities

• Learn safety standards (LOTO, PPE, arc-flash).
• Shadow and assist Automation Engineers with maintenance and repair of control systems.
• Support daily automation operations and document issues.
• Participate in preventive and predictive maintenance of material handling equipment.
• Work with schematics and software tools to identify equipment issues.
• Learn PLC programming under supervision and progress to supervised tasks.
