Job summary

Candidtalent in the Roanoke area, southwest Virginia, is seeking an experienced controls engineer to design, program, and troubleshoot PLC and SCADA systems on site with occasional travel.

You will build HMI interfaces, coordinate with project managers and field technicians, test systems on site, and contribute to project planning and documentation. On-site role with travel up to 20%.

Qualifications

• 5+ years hands-on experience in controls or automation engineering
• PLC programming on Allen-Bradley, Siemens or Schneider
• SCADA/HMI development experience is a plus (Ignition, Wonderware, FactoryTalk or VTScada)
• Knowledge of industrial protocols such as EtherNet/IP and Modbus
• Travel up to 20% with local focus, valid driver’s license

Requirements

• 5+ years of hands-on experience in controls or automation engineering
• Hands on PLC programming on Allen-Bradley, Siemens or Schneider, written and commissioned.
• SCADA and HMI development (Ignition, Wonderware, FactoryTalk or VTScada) is a plus.
• Industrial protocols such as EtherNet/IP and Modbus.
• Travel up to 20%, about half of it local.
• Valid driver's license.
• PLC programmers from outside water and wastewater are welcome.
