Job summary
Candidtalent in the Roanoke area, southwest Virginia, is seeking an experienced controls engineer to design, program, and troubleshoot PLC and SCADA systems on site with occasional travel.
You will build HMI interfaces, coordinate with project managers and field technicians, test systems on site, and contribute to project planning and documentation. On-site role with travel up to 20%.
Qualifications
- 5+ years hands-on experience in controls or automation engineering
- PLC programming on Allen-Bradley, Siemens or Schneider
- SCADA/HMI development experience is a plus (Ignition, Wonderware, FactoryTalk or VTScada)
- Knowledge of industrial protocols such as EtherNet/IP and Modbus
- Travel up to 20% with local focus, valid driver’s license
Responsibilities
- Design, program and troubleshoot PLC and SCADA control systems for industrial and municipal clients.
- Build HMI and SCADA interfaces.
- Coordinate with project managers, panel builders and field technicians.
- Commission, test and start up systems on site.
- Improve existing systems for performance, efficiency and safety.
- Provide technical support and documentation.
- Help with project planning, estimating and specifications.
