Job summary

Electrical Automation Services is hiring on-site in DeKalb, IL for a shift-focused role supporting installation, configuration and troubleshooting of automation systems. The technician will work with PLCs, HMI interfaces, 480V three-phase systems, and servo drives to keep packaging lines running efficiently.

The position emphasizes preventive maintenance, safety compliance, and responsive diagnostics with opportunities for overtime and shift work.

Qualifications

High School Diploma or equivalent required.
Experience with programmable logic controllers (PLCs) and servo systems.
Experience with troubleshooting and maintenance on packaging equipment in a manufacturing environment preferred.
Strong knowledge of safety procedures (lockout/tagout, confined spaces, PPE) preferred.
Familiarity with encoders, servomotors, amplifiers is a plus.

Responsibilities

Install, configure, and troubleshoot photo eyes, proximity switches, limit switches, PLC I/O modules and wiring.
Troubleshoot analog and digital controls with 480V, 3-phase power distribution, motors, VFDs, servo drives, and soft starts.
Maintain and troubleshoot encoders and load cells; program PLC and HMI interfaces; modify ladder logic as needed.
Troubleshoot communication protocols (Profibus, serial, industrial Ethernet) and electrical schematics.
Perform preventive maintenance on Laser Guided Vehicles, conveyors, and production equipment.
