Job summary

Freeport-McMoRan is seeking a Power Automation Technician to support Morenci, AZ operations. You will install, diagnose, repair, and ensure reliability of industrial control systems and equipment under minimal supervision.

Ideal candidates have SCADA/HMI/PLC experience, protective relaying know-how, and the ability to read schematics. On-site work may include shifts and overtime, with a housing allowance option for on-site employees.

Qualifications

• Completion of an approved electrical/instrumentation certification program or minimum five years electrical/instrumentation repair and maintenance in an industrial setting.
• Completion of internal certification program within one year of hire.
• Experience in SCADA and HMI/PLC based control systems.
• Experience in protective relaying and power metering.
• Experience with acceptance/commissioning of substation equipment.
• Strong technical knowledge in communication, interfaces and protocols.
• Ability to read, understand and apply information from technical manuals, prints, and schematics for troubleshooting and repair.
• Valid State Driver's License.

Responsibilities

• Interface between staff engineers, external technical representatives, power transmission and distribution representatives, operations, and maintenance personnel.
• Provides installation, diagnostics, repair and reliability of industrial control equipment (i.e. instrumentation, industrial communications, HMI, PLC, PC interface, protective relaying, power metering, and third party equipment).
• Actively participates in safety and environmental programs and other programs determined by management.
• Other duties as assigned.
