Job summary

Freeport-McMoRan seeks an Electrical/Instrumentation Technician at Morenci, AZ. The role covers removal, repair and installation of electrical components, troubleshooting, and system optimization in a live mining environment.

You will perform preventative maintenance on substations, drives, controllers, and instrumentation; diagnose issues from schematics; mentor others and ensure regulatory compliance. On-site housing allowance may apply and benefits are included.

Qualifications

• Completion of an approved Certified Electronics, Electrical and/or Instrumentation Program, OR four years of experience in Industrial Electrical and/or Instrumentation repair and maintenance, OR an Associate's degree or trade certification with two years of related experience.
• Experience reading and applying information from technical manuals, prints and schematics for troubleshooting and repair.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills to satisfy training, safety and policy requirements.
• Must have minimum personal tools as described by department list or obtain them within 90 days of hire.
• Completion of academic and practical competencies required and ability to pass required written assessments.

Responsibilities

• Removal, repair and installation of electrical components and systems; diagnose and optimize processes; mentor/train other workers.
• Perform safe routine and non-routine repairs and construction.
• Conduct preventative maintenance on industrial electrical and/or instrumentation equipment (substations, switchgear, motors, process controls, instrumentation).
• Maintain knowledge of AC/DC drives, PLCs, cranes, control systems and field devices.
• Installations and renovations compliant with regulatory standards; follow SOPs and safety practices.
