Job summary
SunOpta, Inc. is seeking an Automation Controls Technician II to independently troubleshoot, maintain, and improve PLC-based control systems in a fast-paced manufacturing setting.
You will diagnose complex electrical issues, modify PLC logic, and support automation projects across production and facilities teams. The role requires 3–5 years of hands-on automation experience, strong knowledge of PLCs and HMI systems, and the ability to mentor junior technicians while maintaining accurate
Qualifications
- 3–5 years hands‑on experience in industrial automation and controls, including independent troubleshooting of PLC‑based systems.
- Strong working knowledge of PLCs, industrial controls, and electrical systems.
- Ability to read electrical schematics and troubleshoot/modify PLC ladder logic.
- Experience with control panels, field devices, and industrial networks.
Responsibilities
- Independently troubleshoot and repair PLC-based control systems and automated equipment.
- Diagnose electrical, controls, and instrumentation issues with minimal supervision.
- Install, test, and commission control panels, field devices, and automation components.
- Monitor and improve automation systems and participate in root-cause analysis of failures.
