Job summary
Amcor's Ames facility seeks an Automation Controls Technician to maintain instrumentation, control systems, and communications to support production, quality, GMP and safety goals. You will troubleshoot electromechanical systems, support SCADA interfaces, and guide troubleshooting for designated interfaces within a team.

Qualifications
- Associates degree in PLCs, Robotics, Automation or equivalent; 5–10 years in manufacturing maintenance.
- Experience with Industrial communication and PLC messaging.
- Experience in a 24/7 high-volume manufacturing environment.
- Knowledge of SCADA, PLCs, HMI, AutoCAD, Drives, Network Switches/Routers, and Radio communication devices
- Strong reading of diagrams; mathematical skills; organizational skills.
- Experience leading and managing projects.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for the support and maintenance of the Automation systems.
- Proven ability to modify and troubleshoot PLCs, HMIs, VFDs, etc. (Allen Bradley/Siemens preferably).
- Assists in the installation, repair, and maintenance of electrical systems, equipment, and components.
- Works directly with plant personnel in SCADA implementation and controls systems design.
- Develops and maintains documentation for system architecture and interfacing.
- Perform planning, scheduling, installation, monitoring, configuration, troubleshooting, repair, backup and upgrade for production environment.
- Support Preventive Maintenance (PM) programs and identify improvement opportunities.
- Assist with new equipment installations and system upgrades.
- Ensure safety compliance with policies like lockout/tagout (LOTO) and Electrical Safety.
- Adheres to safety protocols and procedures to prevent accidents and electrical hazards
- Ensures all maintenance personnel are properly trained and aware of potential safety and/or health risks.
- Building and maintaining vendor relationships.
