Job summary

Ford Motor Company in the United States is seeking a seasoned Controls Engineer to lead troubleshooting and installation of automation systems in manufacturing. You will coordinate resources, validate fixes, and support plant electricians while improving machinery and process safety.

The role requires hands-on experience with PLC/CNC controls, vision cameras, AutoCAD, and plant monitoring tools. A high school diploma is required; a Bachelor’s degree and Lean/Six Sigma are a plus.

Qualifications

• Must have high school diploma or GED.
• 2+ years of controls engineering experience.
• Experience with PLC/CNC (Siemens/Allen-Bradley), VFD, Servo, Profinet.
• Familiar with vision cameras and programming software.
• Knowledge of reading electrical schematics and AutoCAD.
• Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma experience preferred.
• MS Office proficiency.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate resources to identify root causes and validate fixes.
• Set up and maintain industrial bar code printers.
• Design and evaluate vision control systems and camera programs.
• Use plant monitoring software to review cycle times and installations.
• Reprogram equipment for engineering changes and improvements.
• Update program backups and install control software.
• Program new installations of automation, machinery, and robots.
• Review risk assessments and ensure equipment safety.
• Train manufacturing personnel and plant electricians.
• Read and modify electrical prints and schematics in AutoCAD.
• Maintain OA/CPN/MPN networks and communications protocols.
• Manage virus protection and PC backups for controls network.
• Work overtime as needed.
