Job summary

Actalent is seeking a Controls Engineer to join our Milwaukie, OR team, focusing on design, programming, and optimization of automation systems on a fast-paced production floor.

The role emphasizes hands-on work on the shop floor, cross-functional collaboration, and deploying vision and data-collection solutions to improve yields and cycle times. This is a fully onsite, permanent position with strong growth potential.

Qualifications

• Experience with Rockwell/Allen-Bradley PLCs (ControlLogix/CompactLogix).
• Hands-on robotics integration with FANUC, Denso, UR.
• Proficiency configuring operator HMIs for intuitive interfaces.
• Experience with machine vision for inline inspection and data collection.
• Strong collaboration with operators and cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

• Design and program PLC logic, HMI interfaces, and robot automation routines for new equipment.
• Spend substantial time on the shop floor inspecting processes and refining performance.
• Engineer solutions to boost first-pass yields, reduce cycle times, and optimize layouts.
• Collaborate with operators, technicians, and engineers to refine control designs.
• Implement vision systems and data collection across assembly operations.
