Job summary

BlueScope Coated Products in Memphis, TN is seeking a Control Systems Engineer to lead the design, installation and support of robotic and automation systems in its coatings operations.

You will develop reliability standards, maintain engineering drawings, train users, and drive continuous improvements through PLC programming, safety-compliant changes, and project leadership across capital initiatives. Strong MS Office and SAP proficiency preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree in electrical engineering and related field.
• 3+ years automation/robotics project work with hands-on PLC programming.
• Experience with Allen-Bradley PLCs and PLC networks.
• Strong ability to perform control system design and commissioning.

Responsibilities

• Lead equipment procurement, installation, commissioning and training.
• Perform feasibility studies for new robotic/automation equipment.
• Maintain PLC systems and safeguard protocols; update drawings and specs.
• Train operations and maintenance staff in system operations.
• Develop and revise SOPs and training materials.
• Perform monthly maintenance KPI reporting and data analysis.
• Support safety initiatives and incident reporting in production.
• Investigate and pilot new technologies to improve cost and reliability.
