Job summary

Inalfa Roof Systems Group, located at Cherokee Assembly in Georgia, seeks a Controls Engineer to design and implement electrical control systems for manufacturing equipment and sunroof projects.

You will program PLCs (RSLogix 5000), develop HMI interfaces, CAD schematics, and contribute to Kaizen improvements while supporting maintenance and MIS interfaces.

A BS in Electrical/Automated Manufacturing Engineering and 5–10 years of hands-on automation experience are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Electrical/Automated Manufacturing Engineering and 5–10 years of hands-on experience.
• Experience in automation projects for manufacturing, automotive and robot projects preferred.
• Strong PLC programming skills, especially RSLogix 5000, with knowledge of Visual Basic and AutoCAD.
• Proficient in LabVIEW programming and data acquisition systems.

Responsibilities

• Support specifying HMI/software features and manufacturing equipment.
• Design electrical/control-wiring schematics on CAD system.
• Design of control logic and control schematics.
• Design ladder logic and relay logic.
• PLC programming RSLogix5000, Factory Talk View.
• Layout detailing and subassembly op panels.
• Bill of material and selection of component.
• System interfacing, power calculation, sizing of cable wires.
• Testing, start-up, debugging, and trouble shooting.
• Support upgrading current assembly lines, machinery, jigs, fixtures to improve
• Process control (error proofing).
• User-friendliness on Human Machine Interface and self diagnostics.

• Database Development
• Support engineering department in development of control units for our sunroofs and the interfacing to the car
• Support engineering department with programming of IRS testing equipment
• Enhance knowledge of electronics/control systems within IRS/USA
• Support MIS department on industrial computers and associated hardware
• The control engineer will be the specialist for electronics/PLC and robot software for IRS/USA
• Quality lead-time and cost control for each task assigned
• Programming, debugging and start up of new automated assembly machinery, robots and Human-Machine-Interfaces
• Write/change documentation for start-up/setting calibration of machinery
• Continuous improvement actions (Kaizen) to optimize processes of the current machinery park by improving Human-Machine-Interface, adding error proofing, vision, and debugging.
• Support maintenance department in troubleshooting, solving machine breakdowns etc. if needed outside of normal working hours. Will provide training as needed to Maintenance Automation Technicians in troubleshooting, PLC, Robotics and control systems.
