Job summary

CenTrio in Baton Rouge, LA is hiring an Instrumentation and Controls Engineer I to support and improve district energy plant instrumentation and control systems. You will work with PLCs, DCS, and Metasys, developing and implementing control strategies and ensuring reliable plant operations.

The role requires strong troubleshooting skills, teamwork, and a proactive approach to maintenance planning, calibration, and safety compliance in a fast-paced energy services environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Instrumentation, or Control Systems Engineering from an accredited institution.
• Experience with PLCs, HMIs, SCADA, and DCS.
• Familiarity with reading P&IDs, loop diagrams, and control narratives.
• Knowledge of PID control and tuning methods.
• Ability to work in cross-functional teams and uphold safety and change-management practices.

Responsibilities

• Provide instrumentation and control systems support to plant operations.
• Troubleshoot, diagnose, and resolve issues related to instrumentation, control systems, PLC/DCS logic, and networks.
• Develop, modify, test, and document PLC and DCS control logic changes.
• Assist in design, commissioning, and optimization of process control strategies.
• Analyze process performance and support control loop tuning and optimization activities.
• Review and interpret instrumentation, electrical, and control system documentation.
• Collaborate with internal teams, consultants, and vendors on instrumentation projects.
• Support integration of instrumentation, control systems, electrical systems, historians, SCADA, PLC, and DCS platforms.
• Develop and maintain technical documentation and procedures.
