Job summary

SpaceX is seeking an Automation & Controls Engineer for Starlink Optical Payloads to automate production lines for high-volume optic systems and test integration across cross-functional teams.

You will design, implement and qualify PLC-based controls, machine vision, and data-driven process improvements, collaborating with electrical, mechanical, and software groups to drive efficiency and safety in a fast-paced aerospace environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, computer science, or another STEM discipline.
• 1+ years of experience in design and commissioning of automation and control systems in manufacturing (internships/projects allowed)

Responsibilities

• Design, build, qualify and implement projects spanning machine design, robotics and manufacturing processes from ideation to production use.
• Architect, write, and debug PLC code.
• Implement vision systems for robotic guidance, quality control and data collection.
• Design systems to monitor processes and track factory performance to boost manufacturing efficiency.
• Design user interfaces for complex machines to simplify operation and troubleshooting.
• Create electrical, pneumatic and fluid schematics for control panels.
• Ensure safety with ANSI/RIA15.06/OSHA compliant systems
