Placements24 seeks an Automation Controls Engineer to design, program, and commission PLC and HMI systems for automated machinery in a hybrid role based near Randburg, Gauteng. You will work on control architectures, integrate hardware and software, and support sites remotely and on-site.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years in automation, strong PLC and HMI skills, and familiarity with industrial networks, with opportunities to travel for commissioning and support.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required in electrical engineering, mechatronics, computer science or related field.
• Minimum 5 years in automation/control systems engineering.
• Strong PLC and HMI programming experience across multiple platforms.
• Solid understanding of industrial communication protocols (Profibus, Profinet, Ethernet/IP, Modbus).

Responsibilities

• Design, program, and commission PLC and HMI systems for automated machinery.
• Develop scalable, reliable control system architectures.
• Troubleshoot automation systems remotely and on-site.
• Collaborate with mechanical and electrical engineers to integrate systems.
• Create and maintain system documentation and manuals.
