Job summary
Insight Global is seeking a Senior Controls Engineer with strong HVAC and chiller systems experience to design, program, and commission PLC-based control solutions. You will collaborate with electrical, mechanical, and field teams to meet project requirements and ensure reliable operation.
The role emphasizes hands-on testing, startup, and onsite commissioning, with responsibility for CAD documentation and BOMs, while supporting customers with technical guidance and training.
Qualifications
- ABET/accredited bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or related field.
- 4+ years in HVAC, refrigeration, chiller systems, or controls/process industries.
- Experience with PLCs from Allen-Bradley and/or Siemens.
- Familiarity with SolidWorks or AutoCAD and CAD-based documentation.
- Experience with EtherNet/IP or Modbus TCP (Rockwell).
Responsibilities
- Design, program, and commission PLC-based control systems for automated equipment.
- Develop PLC and HMI applications per electrical and operational specs.
- Configure networks, VFDs, MCCs, chillers, and remote I/O.
- Create BOMs and technical documentation; coordinate with electrical and mechanical teams.
- Test, troubleshoot, startup, and onsite commissioning with customers.
