Job summary

FALK Panel USA in Walker, MI is seeking a Controls & Automation Engineer to own PLC/HMI, CNC, and automation systems on the production floor. The role includes commissioning new equipment, diagnosing faults, and leading line installs with OEMs. AI-assisted tools support faster documentation and data analysis.

Candidates should have 5+ years Siemens TIA Portal experience, CNC and robot programming skills, and a relevant electrical/controls degree. Travel internationally is required.

Qualifications

• 5+ years hands-on Siemens TIA Portal experience (S7-1500 preferred).
• CNC programming and setup experience.
• Robot programming experience.
• Able to read and mark up electrical schematics; EPLAN or AutoCAD Electrical is a plus.
• Industrial networking knowledge: PROFINET, Ethernet/IP, OPC UA.
• Associate's or Bachelor's in electrical/controls/mechatronics, or equivalent experience.
• Willing to travel for OEM commissioning, including internationally.
• Comfortable adopting AI-assisted tools for code review, documentation, and data analysis is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Program, modify, and troubleshoot Siemens PLC and HMI systems across panel lines.
• Maintain organized, backed-up, version-controlled copies of machine programs and HMI projects.
• Diagnose electrical, controls, and network faults and support downtime response.
• Configure and tune VFDs, servo drives, and motion axes.
• Lead line installs and commissioning with OEMs; review electrical/controls designs.
• Integrate new machines into existing line control, safety, and data systems.
• Create startup documentation, I/O lists, and operator training with AI drafting support.
