Job summary

Burns & McDonnell in the United States is seeking an Automation & Controls Engineer to execute design activities for EPC projects across food, consumer products, pharma, life sciences, aerospace and industrial facilities. You will deliver automation and controls for front end, detailed design, construction and startup.

You will develop PLC/SCADA/HMI software, perform FATs, coordinate with cross-functional teams, review P&IDs, travel about 25–30% to job sites, and mentor junior staff.

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited degree and FE demonstrated; 3+ years electrical engineering experience preferred.
• Experience leading discipline design for large projects and coordinating with multi-disciplinary teams.
• Willingness to travel (30% trips to job sites).
• PE license preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develop automation and controls deliverables (PLC, HMI, Batch, MES, servers, virtualization).
• Perform FATs and startup activities for controls systems.
• Review P&IDs with process engineers to define controls scope.
• Coordinate with offsite design office and field personnel on installation issues.
• Lead quality reviews of design submittals and vendor specs.
