Job summary

Edison Smart® is seeking an experienced Controls / Automation Engineer (3–7+ years) to join our growing engineering consultancy delivering custom automation and controls in the Washington, DC area. You will develop and program automation solutions across PLC, HMI, and SCADA, and you will commission and troubleshoot systems at customer sites.

Qualifications

• 3–7+ years of experience in controls/automation.
• Experience with PLC, HMI, and SCADA.
• Ability to commission and troubleshoot at customer sites.
• Support system architecture and project delivery.
• Ability to work directly with customers and build relationships.
• Mentor junior engineers and grow responsibility.
• Ignition SCADA experience preferred.

Looking for an experienced Controls / Automation Engineer (3–7+ years) to join growing leading engineering consultancy delivering custom automation and controls.

The role:

• Develop and program automation solutions across PLC, HMI, SCADA
• Commission and troubleshoot systems at customer sites
• Support system architecture and project delivery
• Work directly with customers and build strong relationships
• Mentor junior engineers and take on increasing responsibility

Ideally SCADA Ignition experienced.

This role offers the opportunity to develop beyond pure engineering into Project Management, Technical Leadership and Engineering Management.

Industry background

Data centre experience is NOT required. Open to engineers from manufacturing, automotive, aerospace, pharma, food & beverage, semiconductor, robotics and other industrial sectors.

Approx. 25–40% travel

Salary ranges from $115,000 - $165,000 depending on experience.
