Job summary

Qualifications

  • Associate degree in Drafting, Architecture, Interior Design, Facilities Management, or related field.
  • Minimum two years of AutoCAD, facility drawings, space management systems, and space utilization experience.
  • Experience with commercial office furniture systems and corporate space planning.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and reading architectural drawings.
  • Strong Excel and Microsoft Office, plus excellent organization and communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Generate, update, and maintain architectural floor plans and workstation layouts in AutoCAD.
  • Create polylines, attributes, and export data for reporting.
  • Maintain accurate electronic drawing records and workplace documentation.
  • Plan and execute employee moves, restacks, expansions, and consolidations.
  • Coordinate with facilities teams, vendors, and stakeholders on workplace changes.
  • Conduct field verifications and floor plan audits for data accuracy.
  • Ensure layouts comply with ADA and building codes; use ServiceNow/TRIRIGA for requests.

Travel: Occasional day travel to Indianapolis, Columbus, and Cincinnati

Pay:$60,000 to $70,000 annually, based on experience

About the Opportunity

Planes Companies (GWS) are seeking a detail-oriented AutoCAD Space Planner to support corporate workplace and occupancy planning initiatives. This role is responsible for maintaining accurate floor plans, coordinating employee moves, managing space utilization data, and partnering with facilities teams to support workplace strategy and operations.

The ideal candidate combines strong AutoCAD expertise with excellent organizational and communication skills. They enjoy balancing technical drafting work, field validation, data accuracy, and cross-functional collaboration to drive informed space management decisions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Generate, update, and maintain architectural floor plans, workstation layouts, and block/stack plans using AutoCAD.
  • Create polylines and attributes and export data into spreadsheets for reporting and analysis.
  • Maintain accurate electronic drawing records and workplace documentation.
Space Planning & Relocation Coordination
  • Plan and execute employee moves, restacks, expansions, and consolidations.
  • Partner with facilities teams, vendors, and client stakeholders to support workplace changes.
  • Assist with occupancy planning and space utilization initiatives.
Data Integrity & Auditing
  • Conduct field verifications and floor plan audits to ensure occupancy and seating data accuracy.
  • Identify discrepancies and implement corrective updates to floor plans and databases.
  • Support reporting and workplace analytics activities.
Compliance & Workplace Standards
  • Ensure all layouts comply with ADA requirements, applicable building codes, and established corporate workplace standards.
  • Maintain consistency and accuracy across all space planning documentation.
  • Utilize ServiceNow and/or TRIRIGA workplace and facilities management systems to manage and assign requests.
  • Attend virtual and in-person client meetings.
  • Communicate 3D space concepts verbally and visually to various stakeholders.
  • Manage multiple concurrent projects with minimal supervision while maintaining accuracy and deadlines.
Required Qualifications
  • Associate degree in Drafting, Architecture, Interior Design, Facilities Management, or a related field. Or two (2) additional years of experience with electronic drawing management in a design firm or corporate facilities environment may be substituted for the degree requirement.
  • Minimum two (2) years of experience working with:
    • AutoCAD
    • Facility drawings
    • Space management systems
    • Facilities planning
    • Space utilization or related disciplines
  • Experience with commercial office furniture systems and corporate space planning.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and the ability to read architectural drawings.
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel.
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities and make timely, accurate decisions.
  • High attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy.
Preferred Qualifications
Education
  • Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Interior Design, Facilities Management, or a related field.
  • Four (4) or more years of experience in:
    • CAD drafting
    • Space planning
    • Facilities management
    • Space management systems administration
