Job summary

Belle Tire Illinois is launching an entry-level Automotive Technician Trainee within its Auto Tech Development Program, pairing trainees with a certified mentor to build skills and progress to a fully qualified technician in about six months.

Open to current students or recent graduates of an automotive technology program, this role offers exposure to brakes, steering, suspension, and other vehicle systems while working on real customer vehicles in a fast-paced retail setting.

Qualifications

• Current student or recent graduate (within 6 months) of an ASE-accredited automotive technology program.
• Completion of coursework in brakes and steering/suspension preferred.
• State of Michigan Mechanic Trainee Permit (or ability to obtain within required timeframe).
• Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record.
• Must obtain required tools within designated timeframe (program support available).

Responsibilities

• Secure vehicles to lifts and alignment machines for safe operation.
• Assist with diagnosing vehicle issues and performing necessary repairs.
• Support brakes, suspension, and basic maintenance tasks.
• Learn proper repair techniques across multiple vehicle systems.
• Communicate effectively with team members and explain repairs when needed.
• Deliver high-quality workmanship to ensure customer satisfaction.
• Stay current with evolving automotive technology, tools, and repair processes.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
• Complete required training milestones and program competencies.
• Perform other duties as assigned by store leadership.
