Job summary

Qualifications

• Certification required for hire
• ASE or Michigan Automotive Technician Certification preferred
• Minimum two years of auto industry experience; experience with high school students preferred
• Ability to work with a diverse population of students
• Good listening and communication skills
• Ability to follow directions and work autonomously
• Strong organizational skills
• Familiarity with auto shop tools and machines
• Basic mechanical aptitude
• Ability to stay calm in stressful situations
• Mentorship and guidance for both large and small groups

Responsibilities

• Assist lead instructor with lesson plan implementation and classroom activities
• Support students in classroom and hands-on learning experiences related to the auto industry
• Provide one-on-one or small group assistance for academic and technical skills
• Prepare materials and equipment for daily class activities and demonstrations
• Maintain a safe and supportive classroom and lab environment
• Supervise students during clinical practice and fieldwork
• Assist with administrative tasks, including record-keeping
• Maintain valid driver’s license and comply with district policies
