Job summary

Metropolitan Community College - Automotive Technology program seeks an Automotive Lab Technician to support faculty in classroom and shop lab activities. Responsibilities include purchasing, inventory control, tool checkout, vehicle maintenance, and records management to ensure safe, efficient operations.

You will supervise part-time technicians, maintain equipment and training aids, and coordinate repairs with vendors. A related Associate degree and two years’ experience are required.

Qualifications

  • Associate’s Degree in a related field.
  • Two (2) years of full-time, work-related experience.
  • Valid driver’s license and insurability to drive college vehicles.
  • Must pass background check.

Responsibilities

  • Assists faculty with classroom and Shop Lab setup and activities.
  • Purchases and resells auto parts; maintains running inventory and security.
  • Checks-out and monitors tools and equipment; repairs or replaces as needed.
  • Maintains school training vehicles and records of repairs and disposal.
  • Maintains customer work orders and transmits funds records to finance.
  • Performs daily cleanup of Auto Lab areas and exterior storage.
  • Conducts daily safety checks of heavy shop equipment.
  • Supervises part-time Lab Technicians and work-study staff.
  • Documents and maintains records of tools, parts, equipment, and training aids.
  • Renovates and coordinates repair of training aids with outside vendors.
