Job summary

Washtenaw Community College’s Transportation Technologies Department seeks a Part‑Time Auto Body Laboratory Assistant to support Auto Body credit courses with hands‑on lab help, ensure safety, and maintain an organized learning environment.

Under supervision of faculty, you assist students with repair techniques, operate equipment, and uphold industry safety standards while promoting professional conduct and ethical lab practices.

Qualifications

• Must have a high school diploma or GED plus 30 college level credits.
• One year related work experience.
• Current driver license with clean driving record.
• Associate degree in Automotive Body Repair or related field preferred.
• ASE or State of Michigan certifications beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Observe, coach, and assist students in completing homework, lab exercises, and projects.
• Prepare and maintain lab environments and organize tools/equipment.
• Enforce OSHA and SDS safety standards and proper PPE use.
• Assist instructors with lab demonstrations and materials.
• Maintain and troubleshoot lab equipment to ensure functionality.
• Monitor inventory and procure supplies using inventory software.
• Engage in student recruitment and outreach activities.
• Support college events and community engagement.
