Job summary

Buddy Isles Tire & Automotive in Littleton, NC is seeking a hands-on Shop / Service Manager to run the floor and own the service experience from write-up through delivery. You bridge the bays and front counter, acting as a technical resource, dispatcher, and quality checkpoint to ensure every vehicle leaves ready and customers understand their status.

Lead from the floor, mentor techs on procedures and HVAC, and partner with service advisors on estimates and updates to maintain a high standard

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a lead technician, shop foreman, or service manager in a busy shop.
• Strong diagnostic and repair knowledge across automotive systems.
• Skilled at dispatching work and managing flow.
• Clear communicator with high attention to detail and safety.
• Familiar with Tekmetric, ALLDATA/Identifix or equivalents.
• ASE certifications or hands-on equivalent preferred.
• Able to work in a family-owned shop that values integrity.

Responsibilities

• Own daily shop-floor operations: dispatch repair orders, balance workload, and keep jobs on schedule.
• Assist technicians with diagnostics and complex repairs, including HVAC.
• Perform quality control on completed work before customer delivery.
• Maintain a clean, organized, safe shop; enforce PPE and shop protocols.
• Monitor technician productivity and coach in real time.
• Source, quote, and order parts to prevent delays.
• Oversee shop cleanliness and fleet vehicle upkeep.
• Partner with Service Advisors on estimates and status updates.
• Track work-in-progress and flag delays or capacity issues.
• Support high first-time quality and customer satisfaction.
• Step in on difficult conversations or technical explanations when needed.
• Lead meetings and promote accountability and continuous improvement.
