Job summary

Zabor Automotive in Naperville, IL seeks a Service Manager to lead daily shop operations, greet customers, build accurate repair estimates, and drive profitability with transparent communication.

This full-time role offers Monday–Friday hours, employer-paid health insurance, a bi-weekly base pay plus monthly commission bonus, and opportunities to grow with a family-owned team.

Qualifications

• 2+ years in a customer-facing automotive service role.
• Experience building estimates and managing shop workflow.
• Familiarity with Tekmetric, ShopWare, or Mitchell is a plus.
• High school diploma or equivalent; automotive training a plus.

Responsibilities

• Greet customers warmly in person, by phone, text, and email.
• Guide customers through repair decisions with honesty and transparency.
• Build accurate estimates by researching parts and labor times.
• Ensure complete digital inspections with photos for customers.
• Dispatch work, manage daily workflow, and set realistic promises.
• Maintain CRM records and handle parts, vendor payments, and supplies.

What We Pay:

• Base pay, every two weeks. A steady paycheck you can count on, regardless of how the month goes.
• Monthly commission bonus on store gross profit. The more the store sells and the better it performs, the bigger the bonus — paid monthly, on top of your base.

We pay your health insurance premium. Not a stipend, not a “plans available” line, not a plan you can technically enroll in and then can't afford to use. Full coverage, employer-paid.

What You'll Do:

• Greet customers warmly and professionally — in person, by phone, text, and email.
• Guide customers through their vehicle's condition and the repair decision with honesty and transparency.
• Build accurate estimates: research parts pricing and labor times, and price the job so it's fair and profitable.
• Make sure every vehicle gets a complete digital inspection, and present those findings with photos so the customer can see what you see.
• Dispatch work, manage daily workflow, and set realistic promise times the shop can hit.
• Follow up on recommended and deferred repairs — the “not today” jobs are the work you'll sell next month.
• Keep accurate records in CRM.
• Handle the day-to-day of running a clean store: parts ordering and returns, vendor reconciliation, payments, supplies, opening and closing.

What We're Looking For:

• 2+ years in a customer-facing automotive service role — advisor, writer, or service department experience.
• Experience building estimates and managing shop workflow.
• Familiarity with Tekmetric, ShopWare, or Mitchell a plus.
• Strong written and verbal communication — you'll be explaining technical work to people who don't speak the language.
• Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced shop.
• Basic understanding of automotive systems and repair terminology.
• Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
• Able to pass a background check and authorized to work in the U.S.
• Able to lift 30 lbs and stay on your feet through the day.
• High school diploma or equivalent; automotive training a plus.

Training happens at our Crest Hill and Joliet locations before the Naperville store, so you'll know the team and the systems before day one.
