Zabor Automotive in Crest Hill, IL, is hiring an Automotive Technician for a full‑time, Monday–Friday role. We cover 100% of health insurance premiums and offer a team‑oriented, family‑owned environment with ongoing ASE training and paid certification costs.

As a Technician, you’ll diagnose and repair a wide range of vehicles, including European imports, using advanced tools in a supportive, non-competitive team. Expect a steady schedule and room for growth within our expanding shops.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of professional automotive diagnosis and repair experience.
• ASE certifications preferred; Master Technician a real plus, and we’ll pay for missing ones.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair across engines, transmissions, drivetrains, brakes, steering and suspension, A/C, electrical, hybrid, and advanced diagnostics.
• Work a mix of daily drivers, trucks, fleet vehicles, and European imports; not just oil changes.
• Complete digital vehicle inspections with photos to show customers the work performed.
• Document findings clearly; write-ups are part of the repair.
• Road test before and after repairs to verify fixes.
• Maintain a clean, safe bay and follow OSHA/EPA protocols.

Crest Hill is our largest store — an established shop with a steady customer base and a crew that has been here a while. We're opening our third location this fall, and the people who grow with us are the ones already on the bench.

What We Pay:

• Flat rate.
• An established book of business. Crest Hill is our busiest store with a customer base built over six years. The cars are already coming through the door.
• We're not a shop where techs compete for the good tickets. We are a team after one goal. The person next to you isn't your competition — they're the reason you're both getting out on time.

Health Insurance — We Pay The Premium

This is the part most shops won't put in writing, so we will:

100% of your health insurance premium.

Not a stipend. Not half. Not a “plans available” line you have to call HR to decode.

Go read the other technician ads in this market. One of them tells you flat out that half the premium comes out of your check. Most of them don't tell you anything. Depending on your coverage, that difference is worth thousands of dollars a year — real money that never shows up in a quoted pay range. We'd rather you compare.

What You'll Do:

• Diagnose and repair across all systems: engine, transmission, drivetrain, brakes, steering and suspension, A/C, electrical, hybrid, and advanced diagnostics.
• Work a real mix — daily drivers, trucks, fleet vehicles, and European imports. You won't be doing oil changes all day.
• Complete digital vehicle inspections with photos on every car, so the customer sees what you see and the work you found actually gets sold.
• Document findings clearly — the write-up is part of the repair, not an afterthought.
• Communicate diagnostic time honestly and early, so we charge for the work you're actually doing.
• Road test before and after every repair to confirm the fix and catch anything new.
• Work independently and get it right the first time — and know the team will jump in when you're stuck.
• Keep a clean, safe, organized bay and follow all OSHA and EPA protocols.

What We're Looking For:

• 3+ years of professional automotive diagnosis and repair experience.
• ASE certifications preferred, Master Technician a real plus — and we'll pay for the ones you don't have yet.
• Strong diagnostic ability, drivability and electrical especially.
• Proven ability to work independently across mechanical, electrical, and advanced diagnostic systems.
• A complete set of professional hand tools (we supply the equipment, scan tools, and specialty tooling).
• Comfortable documenting work on a tablet — digital inspections with photos are how we operate.
• Familiarity with Tekmetric, Mitchell, or ShopWare a plus.
• Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
• Able to pass a background check and authorized to work in the U.S.
• Able to lift 50 lbs and perform physical shop work through the day.

With a third store opening this fall and more planned after it, there is room to move up here — into lead tech, into diagnostics, or into a new shop as we grow.
