Job summary

Indiana Farm Bureau Insurance seeks an experienced auto damage appraiser in Elkhart, IN. The role evaluates damaged vehicles, decides repairability vs. total loss, and runs total loss evaluations as needed.

You will write repair estimates using CCC, Mitchell, and Audatex, review costs with shops, and communicate with insureds and body shops. Valid driver’s license and 1–2 years in body shop/insurance are required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• Must have a valid Driver’s License.
• 1–2 years of body shop or insurance experience.
• Knowledge of Estimatics software including CCC, Mitchell, and Audatex.
• Ability to negotiate in a variety of circumstances.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills including active listening.
• Effective utilization of computer systems and software.

Responsibilities

• Evaluates and assesses damaged vehicles.
• Makes decisions on if the vehicle is repairable or a total loss based on damages.
• Runs total loss evaluations as needed on vehicles.
• Writes estimates using standard automotive labor and parts cost software and knowledge of automotive repair.
• Reviews repair cost estimates with automobile repair shop to secure agreement on cost of repairs.
• Communicates with insured and body shops.
