Job summary

The Boyd Group is hiring an Auto Body Technician at our Birmingham location. You will meticulously assess and repair vehicles to restore them to pre-accident condition, using cutting tools, welding, and refinishing processes.

You’ll contribute to speed, quality, and customer satisfaction as part of a collaborative shop team. Responsibilities include planning repairs, disassembling and reassembling vehicles, replacing damaged parts, and ensuring workmanship meets labor time guidelines.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Technical school program or a 3-year apprenticeship required.
• Ability to read job orders and work with very little supervision.
• Thorough understanding of auto body repair procedures.
• Able to lift up to 30 pounds and tolerate a noisy shop environment.

Responsibilities

• Plan the repair work and prepare cost estimates for customers.
• Disassemble, repair, and reassemble vehicles.
• Replace damaged sections with new or aftermarket parts and repair glass as needed.
• Weld and fit parts, then prep and repaint vehicles to factory specs.
• Ensure work orders comply with labor time guidelines and inspect completed work.
