Job summary

Mercyhealth Autism Program seeks an Autism Technician to support behavioral services under supervision, implementing treatment plans and collaborating with the care team. The role emphasizes documenting observations, de‑escalation practices, and active participation in performance improvement activities.

Requirements include completing 40 hours of orientation on autism, CPR/BLS within 90 days, and certification in Managing Threatening Confrontations.

Qualifications

• Must complete 40 hours of specified orientation on autism and application of techniques.
• Basic computer skills are required.

Responsibilities

• Provides in-home and community behavioral services to patients with autism as directed in the treatment plan.
• Participates as a treatment team member by attending meetings, providing feedback about patient progress, and sharing impressions of patient status.
• Documents observations and care provided in the medical record.
• Observes patients and reports adverse reactions to medication or treatment to the Program Supervisor and/or Qualified Supervising Provider
• Participates in department and unit performance improvement activities.
• Maintain current de-escalation training and utilize de-escalation techniques daily.
