Katy ISD – Morton Ranch Elementary in Katy, TX is seeking a Special Education teacher (Autism focus) to provide consultation and direct instruction for eligible students identified with autism spectrum disorder. You will participate in ARD/IEP meetings, complete required paperwork, design individualized goals, and apply evidence-based teaching strategies while communicating with parents and staff.

CPI and safety procedures may be employed as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in related field.
• Valid Texas certificate in appropriate area.
• Ability to work effectively between the school and community.
• Experience in providing instruction to students with autism spectrum disorder.
• Valid CPI certification (preferred or after employment).

Responsabilités

• Participate in ARD/IEP meetings for eligible students.
• Complete local, state and federal paper work required for program participation.
• Develop and implement instructional program goals to meet the individual needs of each student and accountable for the KISD autism program teaching competencies.
• Demonstrate competence in the principles of changing behavior including consideration of environmental factors, and manipulating antecedents and consequences.
• Administer criterion referenced, district, and state testing as appropriate.
• Provide on-going communication with parents/guardians, campus staff, and special education supervisors.
• Collect and maintain appropriate data to measure student progress.
• Provide instruction using curriculum, environmental adaptations and accommodations, and instructional methods proven effective through current scientifically based research.
• Use teaching procedures that promote generalization and maintenance of skills.
• Participate in required continuing professional development designed to further develop knowledge and skills.
• Physically prompt students through instruction which may require lifting and positioning.
• Other SHARS Duties as assigned.
• Provide Personal Care as identified in applicable student IEPs.
