Qualifications

• Valid Texas certificate in appropriate area

• Effective written & verbal communication skills
• CPI Certificate, once employed

Responsibilities

• Prepare ARD/IEP documents and attend meetings for students eligible for special education.
• Complete local, state and federal paperwork required for program participation.
• Develop instructional programs for eligible students to achieve mastery of essential knowledge and skills.
• Collaborate with regular education teachers and related service staff to develop PLAAFP and annual goals/objectives for IEPs.
• Administer criterion-referenced testing.
• Keep current and apply state-of-the-art educational practices.
• Oversee paraprofessional responsibilities in implementing student programs and data collection.
• Collect and maintain data related to student progress and grades.
• Report progress on IEP goals/objectives and grades per district policy and ARD documents.
• Provide appropriate behavior management techniques for eligible students
• Complete State Assessment requirements for eligible students
• Communicate regularly with general education staff and parents/guardians regarding student progress/needs/concerns.
• Maintain confidential student records and audit folders.
• Attend district trainings and staff development (e.g., Autism, content-specific trainings).
• Other SHARS duties as assigned.
• Provide Personal Care as identified in applicable student IEPs.
