Job summary

Hospital for Special Care is seeking a Behavior Specialist (BS) for the Autism Inpatient Unit to implement therapeutic plans and ensure patient safety under supervision of the Clinical Nurse Manager and BCBA.

You will collect data, observe patient responses, and document progress within the medical record. Strong communication and teamwork are essential to coordinate with nursing, behavior leadership, and families.

Qualifications

• BA in Human Service field with 6 months to 1 year of direct childcare work with children diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder.
• AA in Human Service field with 2 years of experience with children diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder.
• 5 years of experience with children diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder.
• Preference for ABA experience with children/adolescents including data collection, reinforcement and instructional procedures.

Responsibilities

• Implement the therapeutic treatment plan under supervision to assure patient safety.
• Collect data for functional assessment, observation and data collection on patient responses to intervention.
• Document program activities under the direction of RN and BCBA.
• Provide care to assigned patient under RN direction.
• Maintain safe and therapeutic environment and intervene in destructive behaviors as designated in behavior plans.
• Participate in hand-offs, debriefings, and team meetings to revise behavior plans.
