Job summary

Devereux CARES is an educational program licensed by the Pennsylvania Department of Education serving students ages 5 to 21 with autism spectrum disorder and other developmental disabilities. The Teacher Assistant will work with a multi-disciplinary team to implement learning and behavioral supports, focusing on independence and socially appropriate behaviors.

The role offers a 52-week year, Monday–Friday, 8am–4pm, with hourly compensation of $20.00–$22.80 depending on experience, and

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required; Special Education preferred.
• Experience with individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities or behavior disorders preferred.

Responsibilities

• Ensure student safety.
• Assist in establishing classroom environments conducive to maximum learning by maintaining structure and guiding students to socially appropriate behaviors.
• Work with Special Education Teachers to implement skill acquisition and behavioral reduction programs individually and in small groups.
• Perform ongoing data collection and record keeping as directed by Special Education Teacher.
• Support and reinforce PBIS goals and objectives.
