Strong teamwork with teachers, nurses, and staff is essential to help students participate in the curriculum. The position emphasizes safety, documentation for IEP meetings, and development of self-regulation and daily living skills.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• One year of related experience preferred.
• CPI certification required within 3 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Assist general or special education teachers with instruction and adapt materials to meet goals.
• Implement behavior intervention strategies and de-escalate crises to ensure safety.
• Monitor students in various settings and enforce safety procedures.
• Provide personal care support, including hygiene and mobility assistance, per health plans.
• Maintain records on student progress and assist with IEP documentation.
• Support development of self-regulation and daily living skills with students.
• Collaborate with teachers, nurses, and staff to implement plans and participate in meetings.
• Attend training and staff meetings to stay current on best practices.
• Cover schedules for paras pulled away for urgent situations and assist across multiple settings.
• Contribute to safe learning environments and participate in emergency response when needed.
