Job summary

Trinity Health IHA Medical Group is seeking a customer-focused Authorization Specialist to handle all aspects of the authorization/pre-certification or referral process. This full-time role requires coordinating with insurance companies and ensuring timely approvals to support patient treatment plans.

You will verify codes, manage data, obtain urgent authorizations when needed, and communicate results to patients and staff.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• 1-2 years’ experience with insurance referrals or prior authorizations in a medical office.
• Strong organizational and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Contact insurance companies and obtain authorizations.
• Verifies correct procedural and diagnostic codes and insurance verification.
• Performs data collection and data review as required.
• Obtains urgent authorizations same day and next day.
• Communicates referral status to patients, staff and physicians; ensures that referrals have been processed accurately and in a timely manner to coincide with patient treatment plan.
• Maintain accurate documentation and patient records.
