Trinity Health IHA Medical Group in Azusa, CA is seeking a customer-focused Authorization Specialist to join our team. This full-time role manages the authorization/pre-certification and referral process to support timely patient care.

You will contact insurance companies for authorizations, verify procedures and codes, collect data, and ensure urgent authorizations are obtained promptly. You will keep patients and staff informed and maintain accurate records.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma required.
• 1–2 years experience with insurance referrals or prior authorization.
• Experience in a medical office is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Contact insurance companies and obtain authorizations.
• Verifies correct procedural and diagnostic codes and insurance verification.
• Performs data collection and data review as required.
• Obtains urgent authorizations same day and next day.
• Communicates referral status to patients, staff and physicians; ensures that referrals have been processed accurately and in a timely manner to coincide with patient treatment plan.
• Maintain accurate documentation and patient records.
