Job summary

Amazon Web Services, Inc. is seeking a Specialist Solutions Architect for Aurora PostgreSQL to guide customers through design, migration, and operation of PostgreSQL workloads on Amazon Aurora and Amazon RDS for PostgreSQL.

This role focuses deeply on Aurora PostgreSQL, partnering with customer engineers and CTOs to architect production systems that endure real-world pressure. You will mentor teammates, publish technical content, present at AWS events, and help drive roadmaps by surfacing

Qualifications

• 8+ years in technology domains (software, cloud, systems).
• 3+ years in design, implementation or consulting.
• 10+ years IT development or implementation/consulting in software/Internet.
• Hands-on with Aurora PostgreSQL, RDS for PostgreSQL, or AWS database services (DMS, SCT).
• Led migrations to Aurora as the technical owner.
• Experience with Aurora-specific features: storage, cloning, Global Database, insights, blue/green deployments.
• Experience architecting or operating PostgreSQL solutions at scale.
• Software development experience (Python, Java) and fluency with AI tooling.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the technical advisor for AWS's key customers running or migrating to Aurora PostgreSQL and RDS.
• Guide customers on Aurora PostgreSQL operations: performance, scaling, HA, monitoring, maintenance, backup, security.
• Design and validate architectures leveraging storage auto-scaling, read replicas, Global Database, and Serverless.
• Partner with AWS teams to surface customer pain points and influence feature roadmaps.
• Lead whiteboard sessions, architecture reviews, and deep dives at scale.
• Publish technical content and reusable artifacts to elevate PostgreSQL on AWS.
• Advise on migrations from Oracle/SQL Server and other engines to Aurora PostgreSQL.
• Present at AWS events and PostgreSQL conferences; stay current with PostgreSQL developments.
• Translate PostgreSQL advancements into actionable guidance for AWS customers.
