Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, business administration, or a similar field and six years of accounting, auditing, or similar experience; plus one+ years of direct supervisory experience.
• Valid driver’s license and safe driving history per Union County policy.
• Preferred: five years of experience in personal property appraisal, accounting, auditing, or similar field; NC DOR Personal Property Appraiser III certification.
• IAAO PPS Designation and related certifications are preferred.

Responsibilities

• Oversee and administer the business personal property tax program for accurate reporting, compliance, and equitable assessment.
• Manage the annual listing process, audits, and data management across systems.
• Review and process property adjustments, discoveries, and releases.
• Lead canvassing to educate taxpayers and coordinate with internal and external partners.
• Coordinate with contracted auditing firms and support auditors with data requests.
• Oversee data extraction and integration from internal systems to vendor platforms.
• Ensure proper documentation and application of adjustments per policies.
• Identify and educate businesses about listing requirements and compliance.
• Collaborate with leadership to align departmental processes and goals.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
