Job summary

Wilson County Government is seeking a Tax Administrator to lead the Tax Department, directing listing, appraisal, billing and collection of property taxes with a focus on accuracy and customer service.

The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, accounting or public administration and at least four years of progressive experience, including supervision of staff, with deep knowledge of NC tax laws and revaluation processes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in business administration, finance, accounting, public administration or related field.
• 4+ years progressive experience in managing real and personal property appraisals, tax collections, revenues.
• Three years of direct supervision of staff.

Responsibilities

• Plans, directs and oversees listing, appraisal, billing and collection of property taxes.
• Supervises staff, assigns work, trains and inspects performance; approves time sheets and leaves.
• Develops and implements policies to improve department efficiency.
• Advises the Board and County Manager on tax assessment matters and budget proposals.
