Job summary

Gross Mendelsohn is seeking a career-minded supervisor for our audit and accounting department to perform and supervise audits, reviews and compilations for nonprofits, government contractors, manufacturers, long term care providers, construction contractors and professional service firms.

The successful candidate will train and supervise staff, manage engagements, and ensure high quality client service; travel across the DMV area with occasional overnight stays may be required.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of audit and accounting experience with a public accounting firm.
  • Experience with nonprofits, government contractors, and professional service firms.
  • CPA certification or active CPA status preferred.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel; experience with ProSystems software is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Manage engagements and supervise audit teams.
  • Train staff and supervise junior team members.
  • Perform audits, reviews, and compilations for diverse clients.
  • Prepare and supervise tax returns where applicable.
  • Travel to client sites across the DMV region; some overnight stays may be required.

Job description

If you are a career minded supervisor, consider joining our audit and accounting department. We are seeking supervisors to perform and supervise audits, reviews and compilations for nonprofits, government contractors, manufacturers, long term care providers (nursing homes, assisted living facilities and continuing care retirement communities), construction contractors and professional service firms. The successful candidate will also prepare corresponding tax returns.Managing engagements, training staff, and supervising staff are other key functions of the job. Must be willing to travel around the DMV to client sites. Occasional overnight travel out of town may be required.The successful candidate must meet the following requirements:5+ years of audit and accounting experience with a public accounting (CPA) firm, preferably in the following areas:Nonprofits, including Single AuditsEmployee benefit plansGovernment ContractorsTax return preparation experience including 990, corporate, partnerships and individuals (a plus)CPA certificationStrong interpersonal and communication skillsStrong computer skills:Microsoft ExcelCCH ProSystems Engagement (a plus)CCH ProSystems FX or Access (a plus)Independent self-starter able to work independently as well as with a teamStrong work ethicWilling to provide excellent client serviceAbility and willingness to train and supervise staffMust be willing to travel primarily in the DMV, including some overnight stays out of town.Compensation:Gross Mendelsohn compensates employees based on several factors including but not limited to skill level, experience, education, degree(s) and certifications.- Bonus: Eligible for discretionary bonus and tax season charge hour bonus or total annual charge hour bonus based on meeting hours requirements.Benefits:Gross Mendelsohn offers a comprehensive benefits package to all eligible employees including two options for medical plans (POS and HSA plans) with prescription coverage (subsidized by the firm), two voluntary dental plan offerings, vision, flexible spending accounts, company paid basic life/AD&D and short-term disability, 401(K) retirement savings plan with company match, employee assistance program, paid vacation and sick leave, paid holidays, plus voluntary benefit offerings.
